Guest Post from Sarah Herbert of SafeWorld Nexus

Today’s blog post/Haiti update is a “Guest Post”.  Welcome Sarah Herbert (SafeWorld Nexus) talking about her recent trip to Haiti & Heartline’s Maternity Center:

SafeWorld Nexus sent a small team to Haiti at the end of August in order to spend time with Heartline Ministries, learn about their programs, and help out anyway they could. They were able to spend time with the amazing staff at the Maternity Center, learning about maternal health and the WORK it takes to make sure every mother and child in Heartline’s program is healthy and loved.  While in Haiti, the SafeWorld team got to help put the finishing touches on the new school building that was just built on Heartline’s new property in order to give the missionary kids a place to go to school. Heather Hendrick, Heartline’s Lactation Consultant, said in her family’s blog:

“Plain and simply put: We would not be in this country if it were not for this new school, these teachers, and God answering many, many prayers.  Educating our kids is a huge responsibility.  We want to do it well.  When we were deciding whether or not to stay in Haiti and both of us work for Heartline the education element seemed impossible.”

The new school building will allow more time for the staff to focus on Heartline’s mission of providing women and children in their community with a safe place to learn about Jesus and adopt life-skills, instead of spending hours a day fighting Haitian traffic and horrible road conditions in order to get their children to and from school.

As you can see, the effects of this ripple beyond the immediate children enrolled.  Thank you to everyone making this possible!

Next projects to break ground on the property soon will include an apartment for the school teachers, and two houses for Heartline staff to live in.
